As we move into the 3rd quarter of school, both teachers and students are working hard to prepare for the end of the year MAP test. Results from these tests are used to assess the instructional practices of our classes, student readiness to advance onto the next grade and helps identify strengths and weaknesses in our programs. Parents can view the results of the districts scores through the DESE website (www.dese.mo.gov) or simply by contacting the school. New Franklin was recently notified that we would again be receiving the “District with Distinction” recognitions, partly based on our MAP scores. Way to go Bulldogs!
We encourage parents to take an active part with their child’s education through frequent contact with teachers, encouraging your child with their at-home reading and homework and with good attendance. Through these efforts from home, not only do we assist the children directly with their present assignments, but also help instill positive attitudes towards education in general. And good attitudes towards their education are key to their school success.

About New Franklin R-1
The New Franklin R-1 School District covers over 100 square miles in southern Howard and northwestern Boone counties.
The New Franklin area is rich in cultural history and is known as the beginning of the Santa Fe Trail. The original school, pictured here, was constructed of native gray limestone and built by the citizens of New Franklin as a WPA project in the 1930's. An elementary school was added in the 1960's and a middle school addition in the 1990's. All three schools are connected in a single campus.
