On September 22, 2009, juniors and seniors from NFHS attended the 4th Annual Symposium on Democracy at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. The topic of the symposium was health care in the United States and around the world.

Former NFHS baseball players gathered for the first official alumni game on September 18, 2009.

On December 18, 2009, the Freshman class visited the National WWI Museum in Kansas City.
